Takes sharp aim at 'bleeding heart liberal'
      Responding to Douglas Crocket's letter published Feb. 15 regarding the death of a brave American Marine, Lance Cpl. Anthony C. Melia, this Thousand Oaks "numbskull" is responding. Shame on you, Douglas Crocket, for using this brave Marine's death as a platform to spew your pathetic, unintelligent bleeding heart, liberal views of the war in Iraq and bash President Bush.

Objects to union picketers
      It disturbed me to see a large banner displayed on the sidewalk in Newbury Park regarding a good name and company in a protest. Why would this be done? I decided to find out. The three men holding the banner were giving out fliers. Carpenters Local 150 pays "independent" parties (at union wages?

Tobacco taxes being spent on socialistic groups
      Your front-page picture of the Neighborhood for Learning Preschool/First Five event had no explanation of these dubious socialist programs. They are funded by the tobacco tax and are part of the "nanny government" movement. "Meathead" Rob Reiner ("Mr. Universal Preschool") was in charge of First Five until his free spending was uncovered and he was forced to resign.

T.O. City Council is silencing freedom of speech
      I'm writing in concern to our Thousand Oaks City Council and the way they are doing things- - the way that they have stopped the public from participating in the public meetings. It is so discouraging to see how bad our local government has become. Thousand Oaks has stopped good people from participating on boards and commissions.

Wants help identifying owner of abandoned dog
      As I entered the Thousand Oaks dog park on Mon., Feb. 26, I noticed a dog in the adjacent enter/exit cage who was a very upset, but beautiful, medium brown pit bull. I immediately thought that someone might have abandoned the poor beast. My dog, Layla, and I went into the park and played, walked, ran, had fun, and then started to leave.
