 YEAR OF THE PIG- In honor of the Chinese New Year, local resident Guy Masuda visits the Great Wall of China and the Ming Tombs in Beijing. This year is known to the Chinese as the Year of the Boar.  GRAND VACATION- The Drury family of Thosuand Oaks throws a birthday party at the Grand Wailea Resort in Maui, Hawaii. In the photo are Amanda, Tom, Marisa and birthday boy, John, who turned 5.  TOASTY WARM- Denise Glass of Thousand Oaks sits in hot springs just a few feet from the Antarctic Ocean in a minus-5-degrees blizzard. She's on the all-volcanic Deception Island, a 19th century European whaling station. The swimmers received a certificate for "taking the plunge."  SUNNY SEAS- Lily Sugino of Thousand Oaks takes her Thousand Oaks Acorn to the beaches in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, a popular tourist destination.  TOWERING STEEPLES- Patricia and Andrea Teodorescu of Westlake Village stop by La Sagrada Familia Cathedral in Spain. The great Spanish architect Antonio Gaudi designed this and other interesting buildings in Barcelona.  KEEP MOVING- The Gregory children- Seth, Austin and Alexis- are on their way to the pool during a family vacation at the Monte Carlo Hotel in Las Vegas. They won't be playing the slots, though. |
