      In his letter expressing condolences to the family of Lance Cpl. Anthony Melia, Douglas Crocket stated that this war is "Vietnam all over again." Unfortunately it appears that statement is one of the few things in his letter Mr. Crocket was right about.

      People do not "deny" that global warming may be occurring. Warming and cooling cycles over millions of years have been natural events on earth. Scientists are skeptical about the contention that it is manmade and a great catastrophe waits in the future.

Name of new coffee shop has her boiling mad
      I was extremely offended recently when I noticed the old Spudnuts doughnut location in Thousand Oaks at the corner of Agoura Road and Watergate will soon become the new Bad Ass Coffee Company. Exactly what is the City Council thinking? Gary Wartik, the city's economic development manager, returned my call concerning this matter, stating this is the first he had heard of it.
