Top wrestling talent congregates at TOHS

      This past week Thousand Oaks High seemed to be the best place to start a fight. Of course, if you weren't one of the best high school wrestlers in the area, it may have been the worst. With the wrestling season winding down, TOHS hosted practices this past week that included most Marmonte League teams as well as squads from outside the league such as Camarillo and Chaminade.

Chili Peppers take third at soccer tourney
      BEST OF THE BUNCH- The Red Hot Chili Peppers girls' soccer team finished in third place at last weekend's Coyote Classic in Victorville. Twelve teams from throughout the state competed in the tournament. The Chili Peppers went 4-1 overall. Pictured in the front row from the left are Lolo Ashton and Amanda Apelian.

      With the winter high school sports regular season ending, it's time to separate the contenders from the pretenders and begin exNFL coach Jim Mora's favorite time of the year. (Playoffs! You kidding me? Playoffs!) That's right, the CIF-Southern Section postseason starts this week for boys' basketball and soccer, as well as girls' basketball, soccer and water polo.

Lancers finish alone atop Marmonte League standings
TOHS boys' basketball squad utilizes tenacious defense to win championship

      In this particular circumstance, Thousand Oaks High boys' basketball coach Rich Endres wanted his players to be a little bit greedy. Last year the Lancers won a share of the Marmonte League title, splitting the championship with Calabasas. TOHS earned its piece of first place by beating Newbury Park on the road during the regular-season finale.
