Monarch's Gym athletes bring home the gold
      Gymnasts from Monarch's Gym in Agoura Hills and Newbury Park fared well in recent competitions in the Southland. The Monarchs Gym boys' gymnastics team participated in its first competition last month at the Men's Gymnastics Assocation's meet in Chino, Calif.

      The new year was less than two weeks old, yet 2007 was already becoming a disaster for the Oaks Christian girls' basketball team. On Jan. 11 the Lions allowed 72 points in a loss at Fillmore High. The team's record stood at 5-9 overall, and they were giving up an average of 52.7 points per game.

      CLASSY GROUP- Wednesday was the first day football recruits could sign NCAA national letters of intent. A ceremony featuring area players was held at Clarion Palms Hotel in Newbury Park.

Hillcrest Christian soccer star caps college career
      Damon Brooks, an alumnus of Hillcrest Christian School in Thousand Oaks and longtime Agoura Hills resident, recently finished his final season with the Azusa Pacific University Cougars at the 48th Annual NAIA Men's Soccer Championship Tournament. APU was in the national finals for the third year in a row and made the championship game for the second consecutive season.

      The Agoura High girls' water polo team earned its 20th win of the season Monday afternoon at Westlake. The very next day, the Chargers made it lucky No. 21 with a victory at home against Thousand Oaks. AHS completes i t s Marmonte League schedule today at Newbury Park. A win against the Panthers would mean a second consecutive unbeaten league record for the Chargers.
