The city was painted pink in the 1800s to honor the visiting Prince of Wales.  MEDIEVAL TIMES- Michael, Lisa and Nick Spencer of Thousand Oaks take in the Old World culture of Rothenburg, Germany.  SHINE ON- Eric Shapiro of Newbury Park visits the Kilauea Lighthouse on Kauai, Hawaii. The structure is at the northernmost point of the Hawaiian islands. Built in 1913, the facility had the largest lens of its kind and guided ships heading to and from the Orient. Now a beacon light is used.  CHARMING HAMLET- John and Diane Coushay of Newbury Park visit Melk, Austria, the site of the Danube River and many cultural attractions.  CLOCK TOWER- Kelly and Kerrie Jenson of Thousand Oaks meet their grandparents, Doug and Carol Piuser of Fort Mohave, Ariz., in Death Valley National Park, Calif. They're standing in front of Scotty's Castle, a $2 million retreat built by businessman Albert Johnson in 1927 and named in tribute to his friend, colorful "miner" and conman Walter E. Scott. |
