      Is our future really so bleak? The year is 2027. The last child was conceived 18 years ago, and Mankind is slowly stagnating. Nobody knows why the human race has become infertile- although with a hopeless future, with every human life that much more precious, it seems we've become even more hell-bent on destroying ourselves.

Concertos with Orchestra presents Opus 17 concerts
      The CWOTO Orchestra will present its Opus 17 concerts this weekend, Fri., Jan. 12 and Sun., Jan. 14. The event is sponsored by the Concertos with Orchestra, Thousand Oaks, a nonprofit educational group. The Friday concert will be at 7:30 p.m. at Camarillo United Methodist Church, 291 Anacapa Drive. This performance is free with freewill offerings accepted.

Conejo Players Theatre to hold auditions for 'Angel Street'
      Conejo Players Theatre will have auditions for "Angel Street" Sun. through Tues., Jan. 21 to 23 at 7:30 p.m. Callbacks will be Wed., Jan. 24. The theater is at 351 S. Moorpark Road, Thousand Oaks. The audition will consist of a cold reading from the script, but actors may also perform a prepared monologue. No appointment is necessary. There is no pay.

Comedy coming to Pepperdine University in Malibu
      The Pepperdine University Fine Arts Theatre Department will present "The Playboy of the Western World" by J.M. Synge at 7:30 p.m. Tues. through Fri., Jan. 30 to Feb. 2, and at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Sat., Feb. 3, at the Malibu campus' Helen Lindhurst Theatre, 24255 Pacific Coast Hwy., Malibu.
