The most important ingredient for the Conejo Valley Days Parade is you

This week we tip our Acorn hat to Aviara Real Estate, a company that stepped up to the plate and has committed to spend $15,000 to save the Conejo Valley Days Parade. Barring any last minute surprises, residents and participants can expect to enjoy the community’s annual parade for another year, thanks to Aviara.

Gratitude, too, goes to the Thousand Oaks Kiwanis Club, the service group that’s expected to organize and present the parade.

Now it’s up to the community.

The parade not only needs groups and organizations to participate, it needs a healthy turnout of spectators.

It takes people crowded along the route to make a parade successful, and families are the key.

The showy procession needs a full spectrum of spectators––babies, toddlers, adults young and old, seniors and centenarians––everyone loves a parade.

School kids will be represented by Scouts, marching bands, drill teams and flag twirlers; students should show up to cheer their classmates as they march by.

Anyone who enjoys horses should attend, and if you have Western clothes, boots and cowboy hats, dress up. People who love antique and exotic vehicles should be on hand to wave at elected officials and pageant winners as the polished classics carry them past in high style.

Businesses are encouraged to participate: Make a float, sponsor an entry, help promote a healthy turnout.

The CVD Parade helps give us an identity—another reason to be proud of who we are and where we live.

Let’s work together to make the 2007 Conejo Valley Days Parade the best ever. Whoever you are, you’re important to the parade, so please be there.
