Umpire certification course offered

The Conejo Recreation and Park District will conduct a Southern California Municipal Athletic Federation softball umpires’ certification course. All individuals 18 years and older who are interested in umpiring adult softball are invited to attend.

The course covers rules and officiating mechanics. Individuals who successfully complete the course receive a SCMAF umpire certification card and are eligible to umpire in the 2007 district adult softball league.

Certification kits cost $15 and are available for purchase at the

first session. The kit includes a softball rule book, mechanics manual and tests. Bring paper, pencil and a check for the kit to the first class.

Four sessions will meet from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at the Hillcrest Center, 403 W. Hillcrest Drive, Thousand Oaks, on Tuesdays, Jan. 16, 23, 30 and Feb. 13.

A session will meet from 6 to 9:30 p.m. Tues., Feb. 6 at Borchard Community park, 190 Reino Road, Newbury Park.
