Institute elects T.O. staffer as president Robert Sweeting, an engineer associate with the city of Thousand Oaks public works department, has been elected president of the Institute of Transportation Engineers, Central Coast Section, which includes San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara and Ventura counties. The institute, an international association of transportation professionals, works to advance the application of technology and scientific principles to research, planning, functional design, implementation, operation, policy development and management for all modes of transportation. “Robert advanced quickly in ITE as treasurer, secretary, vice president and now as president,” said public works director Mark Watkins. “He worked very hard to achieve this major step in his career, and he will represent the city of Thousand Oaks well.” Sweeting’s term begins Jan. 1. |
