Small Business Development Center appoints Walker executive director

The Ventura County Small Business Development Center recently announced the appointment of Becki Walker as the organization’s new executive director. As director, Walker will be responsible for overseeing operations of the center serving Ventura and Santa Barbara counties.

“Becki is a problem solver and strategic team builder whose experience leading a wide range of companies will be invaluable to growing the SDBC and providing business solutions to clients,” said Kay Faulconer Boger, dean of business economic and resource development at Ventura College. Most recently, Walker served as the interim director for the Silicon Valley SBDC, and previously coordinated training and outreach at Sierra College SBDC and managed the counseling and training services for the program in the westside of Los Angeles. She has

also held positions as a marketing executive, market strategist and project manager.

“I’ve had the opportunity to work with three successful SBDCs and look forward to using what I learned with Sierra College SBDC, the Westside and Silicon Valley organizations, to take the Ventura and Santa Barbara counties’ SBDC to the next level,” Walker said.

The SBDC for Ventura and Santa Barbara counties coordinates federal, state, local and private sector resources to deliver management and technical assistance to businesses. In Ventura County, the program is hosted by Ventura College in cooperation with the Economic Development Collaborative of Ventura County.
