Trash collection schedule adjusted for holidays

Since both Christmas and New Year’s Day fall on Monday this holiday season, trash and recycling collection will be one day later than usual both weeks for Thousand Oaks and Newbury Park customers of Newbury Disposal.

The regular collection schedule will resume the week of Jan. 7 to 13.

As a special holiday service, residents may put out twice the amount of trash at no extra charge during the two weeks following Christmas. Trash must be bagged.

Extra recyclables will also be collected. Boxes should be flattened.

Also, Christmas trees may be recycled in the yard waste bin. Ornaments, hooks, lights, tinsel, bows, nails and tree stand should be removed.

The tree must be cut into sections no more than 4 feet long and placed in the yard waste barrel.

Flocked trees cannot be recycled.
