Two Hanukkah family festivals planned

Chabad of Thousand Oaks and Janss Marketplace will host a Hanukkah Family Festival from 5 to 7 p.m. Sun., Dec. 17 at the shopping center on the corner of Hillcrest Drive and Moorpark Road in front of the Mann Theaters. The entire community is invited.

The festival is sponsored by Janss Marketplace, Mann Theaters, Toys ‘R’ Us, Mervyn’s, Gold’s Gym, Old Navy, Linens ’n Things, Marshalls, Buca Di Beppo restaurant, T.G.I. Fridays and Trader Joe’s in Westlake Village.

The Hanukkah celebration will include a juggling show, music, kids’ pictures on edible chocolate pops, hot latkes and cocoa, jelly doughnuts and face painting. The entertainment and food are free.

The mayor of Thousand Oaks is scheduled to address the crowd, followed by the highlight of the event, when a menorah will be lit.

The following day, Mon., Dec 18 from 4:45 to 6:30 p.m., Chabad will be hosting its second annual Hanukkah on Ice at the new ice skating rink at The Lakes, 2200 E. Thousand Oaks Blvd.

This event will also include a menorah lighting, hot latkes, YoYo the Clown and ice skating to Jewish music. General admission and food are free, and skating is $11, which includes a skate rental.
