Fitness class offered for special needs children

A new fitness class for special needs children will be held once a month at Monarchs Gym in Agoura Hills.

The program is sponsored by the Conejo Valley Friendship Circle and is run by BMod Fitness.

The Friendship Circle pairs teenage volunteers with special needs kids. Working together, the teens and kids develop a strong bond as they participate in a variety of regular activities including weekly visits, camps and outings.

BMod Fitness programs are designed to give special needs children an opportunity to become more fit and have better control of their body.

Jerry Bennett, president of BMod Fitness, donates his time and the time of his instructors to make sure the kids have a fun workout.

"The kids receive professional and individual instruction in fitness and exercise," said Rochel Bryski, Friendship Circle program director. "They improve their motor skills, exercise and learn to interact with other children. Plus, they have lots of fun."

The one-hour fitness class will be from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on the following Sundays: Dec. 3, Jan. 14, Feb. 25, March 11 and April 22.

Monarchs Gym is at 5331 Derry Ave. Ste. H-C in Agoura Hills.

Space in the program is limited. To register in advance, call Bryski at (818) 865-2233.
