Holiday events planned for Thousand Oaks church

Christmas music programs at Emmanuel Presbyterian Church in Thousand Oaks will begin with the children's Christmas musical "Joyland" at 7 p.m. Fri., Dec. 1, with a 2 p.m. encore performance on Sat., Dec. 2.

Performed by Emmanuel's Starlight children's choir, the "Joyland" story takes place in a toy store where unsold toys have been left behind on Christmas Eve. Magically, the toys come to life with a message about the true giving spirit of the season.

Admission to "Joyland" is free, but the Starlight Choir will be accepting donations of new, unwrapped toys to be distributed to underprivileged children in the community.

A family Advent celebration follows the Saturday performance and includes wreath making, food and fellowship. All are welcome.

"Together for Christmas," a largescale, musical extravaganza featuring the church's Chancel Choir, worship band, and special guest artists and musicians, will be presented Dec. 14 and 15 at 7:30 p.m.

Holiday desserts, coffee and spiced cider will be served to complement the favorite Christmas songs, traditional carols and new music performed throughout the evening.

Tickets for "Together for Christmas" are limited. There is reserved seating. The suggested donation is $10 per person, and group rates are available.

Emmanuel Presbyterian Church is at the corner of Lynn Road and Camino Manzanas in Thousand Oaks.
