Fox sticks to general plan, deserves reelection

Andy Fox excels as a city council member and should be reelected. Let me tell you a story.

I met Andy in 1993 as he was organizing his first campaign; he, a fire captain, me, the financial officer for the Chamber.

During the ensuing campaign each candidate visited our board and expressed his/her positions.

Andy, a stranger, made it clear to us that he wasn't there to support any special interest group or anybody with a single-interest or narrow agenda.

His "position," his primary and only emphasis, would be on the dictates of that document we call the General Plan, akin-in my own mind-to the U.S. Constitution; the well from which all law-ordinances-and rules eminate.

From there he would establish his guideposts for council oversight in our thriving community: communication, objectivity and equity, to and with all groups that comprise the vital fabric of this well run city.

I don't know of another elected official-local or otherwise-who has adhered so thoroughly to his own vision and his promise. Andy's agenda, then, is our agenda. And I do believe that we residents of Thousand Oaks pretty much agree on what we like and want in this town, and we arrive at those precepts as we look around us and take in firsthand knowledge.

I have great regard for Andy's education in history (from CLU) and in his master's degree in dispute resolution (from Pepperdine).

Both are subjects pertinent to his position as a high-level manager and as a city councilman.

His priorities are your priorities and mine: to live in the finest community in California, perhaps beyond.

Consequently, Andy has thousands of active supporters in this town, from all walks of life. Take a good hard look and compare. Jack Tucker Thousand Oaks
