Wants new faces with Dunn on school board

If you believe in unions, or that "political-correctness" advocates should dictate school district policies, this is not for you. If you believe parents should have a say in their child's education, read on.

Please reelect Mike Dunn to the Conejo Valley Unified School District Board of Education. As an incumbent, he has distinguished himself from every other board member as being more responsive to the parents in the Conejo Valley than to the teacher union's bosses.

1. Mr. Dunn tried to help parents who wanted an earlier Christmas vacation start date when the union bosses insisted on Dec. 23. The majority of teachers also opposed this late start date. Dunn got no help from the other board members.

2. Mike Dunn stood alone in support of the parents to reject the Glencoe health textbook which defines marriage as "a union of partners or individuals." Prop. 22 defined marriage as between "a man and a woman" but the other four trustees want to indoctrinate children with PC dogma to the contrary, and disregarded the protests of the vast majority (101 comment cards rejected the book vs. 16 cards supported it.) One of these 16 was the teachers' union president.

3. Mr. Dunn is the only board member who refuses to take money from the teachers' union. For his courageous stance, Mr. Dunn has been harassed and snubbed by the other trustees. During this election cycle, he will no doubt be vilified.

Please reelect Mike Dunn and end the 4-to-1 margin against parents by electing John Andersen and Greg Lennox. They have pledged to be responsive to parent's concerns. Please do not vote for Stevens or Phelps, who have failed parents on important issues. Steve Koraly Westlake Village
