Pepperdine to host 'Tango Fire'

Estampas Portenas, a tango company from Buenos Aires, brings the passion of tango in "Tango Fire" at 8 p.m. Fri., Oct. 6 to Pepperdine University's Smothers Theatre, 24255 Pacific Coast Hwy., Malibu.

Featuring 10 dancers with a quartet of young musicians and a singer, Estampas Portenas makes its North American debut with this fall tour.

Set to the music of Piazzolla, Rodriquez and others, "Tango Fire" traces the evolution of the tango from its origins in the redlight district of Buenos Aires to the Roaring '20s and the world of contemporary ballroom dance, according to event organizers.
