Local marching bands to compete at Thousand Oaks High School

Spectators and music lovers can watch high school bands from throughout Southern California compete in a field tournament from 6 to 9 p.m. Sat., Oct. 7 at the Thousand Oaks High School football stadium.

Of local interest, Conejo Valley residents can see field shows from all three local high schools, Newbury Park, Westlake and Thousand Oaks.

These events are always colorful and entertaining.

Guests should park at the south end of the campus near Moorpark Road and Avenida de Las Flores.

Gates open at 6 p.m. and awards will follow the final per

formance. Seats are $10. Senior citizens, TOHS students (with identification) and kids under 13 pay only $5. Children under 6 are admitted at no charge. Up to two elementary or middle school band students will be admitted free with each paying adult. (Ask for the discount at the ticket booth.) Food and beverages will be sold at concession stands.

Proceeds from ticket sales and concessions will benefit the TOHS Marching Band program.

This is a Western Band Association-sanctioned event.

Guests are asked to limit their conversations and movement when bands are performing.
