For the record We received several phone calls and 31 letters on Monday from Sharon Radashan's sixthgrade class at Lawrence Middle School in Chatsworth regarding a front page photograph in the Sept. 14 edition of the Thousand Oaks Acorn. It depicted people marching in the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library Freedom Walk on the fifth anniversary of 9/11. The students and callers were upset because they misinterpreted the photograph and as sumed the boy in the picture was nearly dragging an American flag on the ground. The youngster was carrying a water bottle and only one flag. It was on his shoulder. The Stars and Stripes in question was being waved by another participant who wasn't shown. At no time did any American flag touch the ground or even come close to it, according to staff photographer Jann Hendry. It's good to know, however, that people care about Old Glory. |
