Newbury Park bakery changes its name

Serendipity Baking Company, a bakery in Newbury Park will be changing its name as of Oct. 1 to Susannah Baking Company.

In 2005, Westlake Village residents Joe and Jules Walters purchased the bakery, long known in

Conejo Valley for its cheesecakes, wedding cakes and other specialty baked goods. Soon after they bought the business, they were notified by a New York law firm that the Serendipity brand, which had been used since 2001, was copyright-protected.

The Walters decided to name the bakery after their youngest daughter, Susie.
