Police investigate possible child predator in T.O. The Thousand Oaks Police Department continues to investigate two incidents that occurred last week. According to a spokesman with the TOPD, a man approached a 10-year-old girl in the vicinity of an apartment complex near Hampshire and Triunfo Canyon roads. The man initially posed as someone who needed the girl's help. When she declined to assist him, he then said he was a police officer, according to authorities. The girl was suspicious, departed the area, and reported the incident when she was safe. Within 24 hours, on Thurs., Sept. 7, a man was reportedly acting suspiciously near the campus of Colina Middle School, west of Erbes Road and Hillcrest Drive. Although the descriptions of the male subjects were similar, no evidence connects the incidents. The police department recommends that parents warn their children to flee if they're approached by a stranger. Children should be instructed to seek safety with a friend or responsible person and to also report the incident. |
