GenealogicaSociety to host expert on England

The Ventura County Genealogical Society Inc. will host guest speaker Beth McCarty at its monthly meeting from 1 to 4 p.m. Sat., Sept. 16 at the Ventura LDS Family History Center, 3501 Loma Vista Road in Ventura. Guests are welcome and there is no cost to attend.

McCarty will speak on "Nonconformist Church Records in England" and will demonstrate how to locate records from churches other than the Church of England. McCarty has been doing genealogical research for more than 38 years and is presently researching English and Irish records. For information, call Cathy at (805) 644-4753.

The Conejo Valley Genealogical Society will meet at 6:45 p.m. Tues., Sept. 19 at the Grant Brimhall/Thousand Oaks Library at 1401 E. Janss Road, Thousand Oaks.

Librarian Liz Odle will give a PowerPoint presentation called "Digging in Our Own Backyard," on the new and remodeled areas of the library and what holdings the library has for genealogists.
