Santa Monica Mountains free butterfly program

Margaret Huffman, programs chair for the Los Angeles Chapter of the North American Butterfly Association, will present "Butterflies of the Santa Monica Mountains" at 7:30 p.m. Tues., Sept. 19 at the Temescal Dining Hall, Temescal Gateway Park, 15601 Sunset Blvd., Pacific Palisades.

The program and parking are free. Reservations are not required. Huffman will share her exper

tise about the butterflies that can be seen in the Santa Monica Mountains and where to view particular species. Participants can also enjoy Temescal Canyon Association photographs of butterflies that might be spotted in local wilderness areas.

A naturalist at heart, Huffman raises butterflies and hosts workshops on gardening for birds and butterflies.
