Another equestrian event coming to Ventura Farms

David Murdock will host a fundraising event at Ventura Farms in Thousand Oaks on Sat., Sept. 16 to benefit Ride On and the services they offer the disabled.

Ride On teaches therapeutic horseback riding to children and adults with physical and mental disabilities at two locations, one in Chatsworth and one in Newbury Park.

Therapeutic riding combines instruction in traditional horsemanship skills with concepts of physical therapy that improve the

strength, balance and self esteem of individuals with disabilities. Ride On serves 170 disabled riders on a weekly basis.

"This is the sixth year Mr. Murdock has graciously opened his home and his ranch to Ride On and our families. This wonderful afternoon showcases our riders and the very special horses that help them in so many ways. Mr. Murdock's generosity allows 100 percent of every dollar raised at this event to help these inspiring riders," said Bryan McQueeney, Ride On's executive director.

The event starts at 3 p.m. with cocktails, silent auction and raffle. Cost is $150 per person including dinner. For ticket and event information call Sara Jones at (805) 375-9078.
