YMCA to honor Sheriff Bob Brooks The Southeast Ventura County YMCA will honor Ventura County Sheriff Bob Brooks at its ninth annual YMCA Leadership Award Celebration on Sat., Sept. 16 at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library. The event gives recognition to local community leaders or companies showing a unique level of community awareness, leadership and generosity. "Sheriff Bob Brooks is a champion for children and families for Ventura County and works closely with the Boy Scouts and YMCA as well as other associations," said John Rutherford, president of the Southeast Ventura County YMCA, which serves the Conejo and Simi valleys and Moorpark. "We're honored that we can recognize him for his years of dedicated service to our community." The money raised from the event will be used to offset the cost of YMCA childcare services to low-income families in the community and to fund programs geared towards at-risk youth. This year's black tie-optional gala will begin at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $175 per person. For information and reservations, contact Deb Bieniek at the YMCA, (805) 497-3081. |
