'Eye on the Issues' cable program premieres

The Media Group of the Democratic Club of the Conejo Valley is pleased to announce the broadcast of their premiere cable program, "Eye on the Issues."

The 37th Assembly District candidate Ferial Masry was the first guest on this new political talk show produced by Sue Gunther, directed by Jody Avery-Smith and written and hosted by Constance Starkey. The panelists included Tom Mullens, Chris McGinnis and Virginia Rogalsky.

The show will have repeat airings at 10 a.m. Tuesdays, Sept. 19 and 26 on Warner Cable Channel 25.

A new program of "Eye on the Issues" will air starting the first Tuesday in October. The Democratic candidate for the California 24th Congressional District, Jill Martinez, is the tentatively scheduled guest.

From noon to 3 p.m. Sun., Sept. 17 at Los Robles Greens banquet center, 299 S. Moorpark Road, Thousand Oaks, the club will host Robert Scheer, former national correspondent for the Los Angeles Times.

Scheer is heard on the KCRW talk program "Left, Right and Center" and is the author of seven books, including "The Five Biggest Lies Bush Told Us about Iraq" and, most recently, "Playing President: "My Close Encounters with Nixon, Carter, Bush I and Clinton-and How They Did Not Prepare Me for George W. Bush." Other special guests will include Democratic candidates for office.

Luncheon, dessert and beverage will be provided along with nohost bar, live music and a silent auction. Scheer will also be signing copies of his new book.

Proceeds will finance club precinct operations, newsletters, website and cable access programming benefiting all Democratic candidates and issues. For cost and reservations, visit www.conejodemocrats.com or call (805) 675-8785.
