Fun Run will affect traffic, businesses The second annual Kids and the Arts Fun Run will launch the Thousand Oaks Arts Festival on Sat., Sept. 16 at The Lakes shopping center, adjacent to T.O.'s Civic Arts Plaza at 2200 E. Thousand Oaks Blvd. A 5K, 10K and one-mile fun run/walk are planned. The festival will continue on Sun., Sept. 17. Arts exhibits, demonstrations, live performances and children's activities are planned. It's free and suitable for the entire family. Pre-registration for the Kids and the Arts Fun Run is $20 and a T-shirt is included. Day-of-therace registration will be $25, beginning at 6:30 a.m. Medals will be awarded for first-, secondand third-place finishers for males and females in all age groups. Businesses that open before 9 a.m. on Saturdays should be aware of the race routes. The 5K and 10K routes will start at The Lakes, go east on Thousand Oaks Boulevard to Duesenberg Drive, north to Hillcrest, west to Erbes Road, south to T.O. Boulevard, and then east to the finish line in front of Gardens of the World (10K runners will take the same route twice.) Proceeds from the Kids and the Arts Fun Run will benefit the Alliance for the Arts School Outreach program. For more information about the fun run or the school outreach program, call (805) 449-2590.
