Conejo Classic Water Polo Tournament on tap

Eighteen boys' teams are scheduled to compete in this weekend's Conejo Classic Water Polo Tournament.

Hosting the event are Thousand Oaks, Westlake and Newbury Park high schools. Games begin Friday afternoon at 3 p.m. at each of the three aforementioned schools.

Following several morning matchups Saturday, the first-through sixth-place games will get underway in the afternoon at TOHS. Westlake will host the seventh-through 12th-place games, while NPHS is home to the 13th-through 18th-place matchups.

Local teams competing in the two-day tournament include Moorpark, Thousand Oaks, Westlake, Ventura, Rio Mesa, Newbury Park, Malibu, Oaks Christian and Oxnard.

All games will feature 6 minutes quarters, with one timeout per match. Each squad will play five games, and ties will be decided by a golden goal.
