Other local football matchups
Loyola, however, will present a daunting challenge to TOHS. The Cubs are the defending CIF-SS Division I champions. On its way to last season's title, Loyola defeated Lakewood, Edison, Mater Dei and Esperanza. To say Thousand Oaks has its hands full in this one could be a major understatement. If the Lancers are going to pull off the monumental upset at home, the offense will need to put points up early and often. Oaks Christian (1-0) at Muir (0-0) Outlook: After hammering Lompoc, 49-0, to open the season last weekend, Oaks Christian is back on the road Friday to take on Muir, a team they defeated 57-0 in the opener a year ago. Quarterback Jimmy Clausen completed 10-of-18 passes for 201 yards, four touchdowns and one interception against Lompoc. Running back Marc Tyler, meanwhile, had 12 rushing attempts for 224 yards (18.6 yards per carry) and scored twice for the Lions. Muir was unable to find the end zone in last year's matchup, and judging from the way the OCHS defense played against Lompoc-they had nine sacks and three interceptions- things don't figure to get any easier tomorrow. |
