Everyone should have an attitude of gratitude I had an economics teacher in high school and really enjoyed his class. He also taught us about how our country is run. One thing I'll never forget was something he kept repeating: "Always have the attitude of gratitude." No one wants to be taken for granted, he said. And he's right; it takes no energy to say "thank you" when someone says how nice you look or after helping you lift something heavy. If someone taught you how to cook, or about a hobby, or music, or writing or how to be a better person, he or she deserves your gratitude. I feel most of the people on our city council are doing a good, honest job in running and planning our city. They're knowledgeable and their consciences know if they're doing an honest job. I feel in my heart they should be thanked for helping make our city a lovely, wonderful place to live. My husband and I have been here since1960, and we're happy with what our council members, now and in the past, have done. Sure, they make occasional mistakes and wrong decisions, but don't we all? The positive side is our community is beautiful and well cared for and has outstanding stores, restaurants, parks, libraries, teen and senior centers, sports, schools, colleges, gardens, entertainment and all kinds of activities to keep us busy, productive and happy. I have the "attitude of gratitude." Thanks, city council. We love it here. Kristal Watters Thousand Oaks |
