Alliance for the Arts announces award winners

The Alliance for the Arts, the official nonprofit fundraising arm of the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza, will recognize the fifth AFTA award recipients in a formal black tie dinner gala on Sat., Oct. 7 at the Janet and Ray Scherr Forum.

The event will also feature live entertainment and a concert by Tony award-winning performer Michael Crawford in the Fred Kavli Theatre.

Award winners include Time Warner Cable, Corporate Builder of the Arts; Jean Fitzpatrick, volunteer extraordinaire; and John Notter, Philanthropist Builder of the Arts.

"We are delighted that all of our AFTA Award recipients for 2006 will be in attendance to re

ceive very deserving recognition from the Alliance for the Arts for their outstanding commitment and support of our organization," said Patricia Jones, president and executive director of the Alliance.

The public is invited and tickets are $300 per person. All proceeds will benefit the Alliance and its various programs, including the "Kids and the Arts" school outreach program and grants for local performing arts groups which perform at the Countrywide Performing Arts Center.
