C Street Longboard Classic at Surfer's Point

The C Street Longboard Classic is slated for Sat. and Sun., Sept. 16 and 17 at Surfer's Point (C Street) in Ventura. The contest has been held annually since its inception in 1986.

In addition to the surfing commpetition, the weekend will be full of raffles, vendors, camaraderie, and the Ventura Chapter of the Surfrider Foundation's "Clean Water Paddle-out." Activities get underway at 7 a.m. on Saturday.

The longboard contest is open to all; registration is $65. A downloadable entry form, a list of divisions, vendor and sponsorship opportunities, detailed driving directions and information on hotels may be found at www.cstreetlongboardcom.

All net proceeds from the C Street Longboard Classic will be directed to the C Street Surfing Museum Foundation, a nonprofit corporation.

The reestablished C Street Surfing Museum is open to the general public and located at 1230 E. Thompson Ave., Ventura. The original C Street Surfing Museum was opened in March 1992 as a tribute to the surfing history of Ventura. "Our mission is to promote

public education about the history, art, science and sport of surfing," said Bruce Douglass, foundation board member.
