Classes for disaster preparedness set to launch in Thousand Oaks

The Thousand Oaks Disaster Assistance Response Team is an all-volunteer disaster response and community action team dedicated to training its members and educating the citizens of the community in emergency prepa

ation and response. DART is proficient in public safety techniques, enabling members to assist with community needs.

DART is funded by the city of Thousand Oaks, certified by the Ventura County Sheriff 's Office of Emergency Services and is administered by the city of Thousand Oaks Police Department.

DART is seeking new members and offering a series of classes required for application. New members must have completed Community Emergency Response Training within the last two years.

Classes will be at the Thousand Oaks Police Department community room, 2101 E. Olsen Road in Thousand Oaks. Sessions will meet from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Mondays, Sept. 18, 25, Oct2 and 16; 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sat.Oct. 21; 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sat.Oct. 28 and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sat.Nov. 4. Pre-registration is required.
