Braille Institute van to visit Thousand Oaks

Mobile Solutions is a specialized van that brings Braille Institute's programs and services to people who are unable to travel to the Santa Barbara Regional Center. The van will visit the Gobel Senior Center, 1385 Janss Road in Thousand Oaks from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Fri., Aug. 18.

The van is equipped with highpowered magnifiers, closed-circuit television and other adoptive equipment to help maximize remaining vision.

Clients can purchase some items from Braille Institute's Vistas Store, such as adaptive kitchen utensils and talking watches.

Potential clients also can receive free low-vision consultations and learn more about Braille Institute's Library Services. Qualified patrons can sign up on the spot to begin receiving talking books almost immediately.

Braille Institute is a private, nonprofit organization whose mission is to eliminate blindness and severe sight loss as a barrier to a full life.
