Thirty actors ages 10 to 19 years have rehearsed for six weeks, three days a week, six hours per day to prepare for this production. Artistic director Jeff Wallach has worked with music director Becca Cornelius, stage manager Kathee Boyer and cos

"The story is about young love, sacrifice and the proud lifestyles of the proud race of the Japanese," according to Wallach.

Nanki-Poo and Yum Yum are the plot's star-crossed lovers. As with most Gilbert and Sullivan works, the plot has many outlandish and comic twists and turns.

"The Mikado" was originally staged at the Savoy Theatre in London on March 14, 1885.
