Preparing for takeoff

DISCOVERING THE POWER OF FLIGHT-Lucas Ames of Palmdale, left, and Newbury Park resident James Gallagher, a pilot with the Experimental Aircraft Association, go through preflight procedures. They're peparing to take off in a Piper Comanche. The two were participating in a Young Eagles program at Camarillo Airport last Saturday. The goal of the free program for young people (8 to 17 years of age) is to provide flight experience.
