Libraries launch summer reading programs for book lovers of all ages

Children and teens are invited to participate in the Summer Reading Program at the Grant Brimhall/Thousand Oaks Library and Newbury Park Branch from Thurs., June 29 through Aug. 13.

For children, the theme this year is "Paws, Claws, Scales and Tales," and for teens, the theme is "Creature Feature."

To participate, youth must come to either library between June 29 and Aug. 13 to sign up. Participants will receive a book bag and a reading log in which to write down all the books they read during the summer. Each week during the program, incentives and small prizes will be given to encourage youth to read.

In addition, storytimes and special programs for children and teens will be presented at both libraries during the summer.

For information on programs at the Grant Brimhall/Thousand Oaks Library, call (805) 4492660, ext. 213 or visit the library at 1401 E. Janss Road, Thousand Oaks.

The Newbury Park Branch can be reached at (805) 498-2139 and is at 2331 Borchard Road in Newbury Park.
