Vote in November for a return to decency

We should get to the root of why people don't vote. What we should do is ask the people who didn't, why.

Joe Gibson, who ran for Ventura County supervisor, said it was the negativity of the campaigning, people are tired of government.

I got all the mailers and even attended an informative meeting where Linda Parks was a guest speaker. Not once did she make a negative comment about any of her colleges or opponents, who so freely bad mouth her every chance they get.

She is diplomatic and positive and presents herself as an educated and informed leader who cares immensely for our environment, for the people's freedom to make choices and for our quality of life here in Ventura County.

I'm so impressed with her character, and feel so fortunate that she wants to do this monumental job for us.

Two thirds of the voting population thinks so too. I hope she knows how much we appreciate her.

We need more people like her and Claudia Bill-de la Pea on the Thousand Oaks City Council.

All the negativity came from the Gibson camp. What disrespect was displayed by the four council members, joined at the hip, lock-step developer groupies, who made such a public display of their attitudes.

They are creating their own undoing. The two-thirds group will (boot) a couple of them out the door next fall.

It is about time we had some decency back in our local government, with the power returned back to the citizens. Perhaps, then, more of our people will be inclined to vote. Marilee Ullmann Thousand Oaks
