Men's Health Week being observed here

Through Sat., June 17, Planned Parenthood of Santa Barbara, Ventura and San Luis Obispo counties will continue to celebrate National Men's Health Week.

New male patients at Planned Parenthood centers throughout the tri-counties will receive a gift card to Borders, Best Buy or Jamba Juice and will have the chance to enter a drawing for additional great prizes.

All week the centers will accept drop-in patients for sexuallytransmitted infection testing.

According to the Centers for Disease Control, women are 100 percent more likely to visit the doctor for annual exams and preventive services than men. As Father's Day men are reminded to take control of their health, for themselves and their families.

Men's Health Week was established to heighten the awareness of preventable health problems and encourage early detection and treatment of disease among men and boys.

Planned Parenthood offers men a full range of reproductive health services, including STI and HIV testing, condoms, physical exams, education, vasectomy and referrals. Most will qualify for free services, and all services are confidential.

For more information on Men's Health Week, visit Planned Parenthood on the web at www.ppsbvslo.org or visit a Planned Parenthood center.

In Thousand Oaks, visit Planned Parenthood at 166 N. Moorpark Road, or call the office for information at (805) 777-3841.
