BILL SPARKES/Acorn Newspapers HARD WORKER -Irish John Gore has received the Volunteer of the Year award. The Spirit of Community Awards celebration acknowledged the efforts of teachers, firefighters, police officers, the U.S. armed forces and volunteers. It took place last Friday evening at Hyatt Westlake Plaza and was a function of the Community Foundation, a nonprofit arm of the Thousand Oaks/Westlake Village Regional Chamber of Commerce.
