County Human Services Agency honored The Ventura County Board of Supervisors recognized the Human Services Agency of Ventura County and community partners on Tues., May 16 for their efforts in the prevention of abuse to elder and dependent county residents. The ceremony was conducted during the regular board meeting at the County Government Center in Ventura. In Ventura County, the Human Services Agency's Adult Protective Services responded to about 1,650 reports of elder or dependent adult abuse in the past year. Whether the abuse is finan cial, physical, emotional or basic neglect, seniors and disabled adults have the right to protection under the law, even if family members are involved in the abuse. Persons suspecting abuse should report it as soon as possible. For more information or to report abuse, call the Elder Abuse Hotline at (805) 6543200. In related news, the Human Services Agency will host a Family Care and Volunteer Resource Fair from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Thurs., May 25 in the main courtyard of the Ventura County Government Center, 800 S. Victoria Ave., Ventura. More than 40 vendors will provide family care resources including child and elder care services.
