Conejo Valley Days honors volunteers

Five service, volunteer and youth organizations were honored at the annual Conejo Valley Days Interservice Club Luncheon May 4 at the Los Robles Greens Golf Course, Thousand Oaks.

Sponsored by the Conejo Valley Activities Committee and Conejo Valley Days, the luncheon honored two service clubs, two volunteer groups and one youth group that have made a significant impact on the community during the past 12 months. The event attracted more than 200 attendees.

The awards were divided into two categories: small groups with up to 49 volunteers and large clubs with 50 or more volunteers.

The following were named winners this year. Large service club: Thousand Oaks Elks Lodge No. 2477

Small service club: Soroptimist International of the Conejo

Large volunteer group: The Wellness Center

Small volunteer group: Community Conscience

Youth Group: Conejo Valley Little League.

"The luncheon is a way to acknowledge volunteers that have made a positive impact to our community," said Marty Campbell, Conejo Valley Days offsite chair.

This year's luncheon also recognized Mary Ann Keeler, Conejo Valley Days' general chairperson, for more than 40 years of service to Conejo Valley Days. She received an award from the city of Thousand Oaks for her dedication to the community festival.
