Work training agency benefits disabled Work Training Programs, Inc. will celebrate more than 40 years of service to the Ventura County community with the third annual "Moonlight & Music" from 5 to 10 p.m. Sat., May 20 at the San Buenaventura (Ventura) City Hall. The event will begin with a VIP reception, followed by the program at 6 p.m. Highlights include tapas donated by Jonathan's at Peirano's restaurant, live entertainment featuring music of the 1980s and a classic rock band, plus live and silent auctions. "'Moonlight & Music' is an opportunity to have an entertaining and stylish night out, while supporting a critical human services need," said Marielle DeFazio, director of operations, Work Training Programs Ventura County division. "All funds raised at this event will go to support the much-needed remodel and repair of a learning classroom for adults with disabilities and disadvantages in Ventura County. "We recognize that these individuals hold a valid and vital place in the community, and we are especially grateful to those who support Work Training Programs. It is because of this generosity, we are able to continue providing services to make lives better." Work Training Programs Inc. is the Ventura County nonprofit that provides services to people with disabilities and economic disadvantages throughout the community. Established in 1964, the organiza tion is dedicated to providing job training and job placement services to people who require special assistance. In 1985, Work Training Programs expanded its services to include Ventura County, starting with a program in Thousand Oaks. Independent living assistance and employment services were quickly added throughout Newbury Park, Thousand Oaks, Simi Valley, Oxnard and Ventura.
