Poppy Festival coming to Thousand Oaks

The Conejo Valley Botanic Garden will host its annual Matilija Poppy Festival in the garden's nursery area from 1 to 5 p.m. Sun., May 21. The garden is at 350 W. Gainsborough Road, Thousand Oaks, adjacent to Conejo Community Park.

Visitors can expect to see robust plantings of the tall, showy "fried

egg" flower, known for its bright golden center and large white petals that resemble crepe paper.

The event will feature speakers discussing various garden topics, children's activities, special tours, a plant sale of water-wise plants, free popcorn and more.
