NPHS Choir wins gold

The Newbury Park High School Concert Choir and the Newbury Park High School Panther Chamber Singers both recently received a gold medal for their recent performance at the Heritage Festival in San Diego.

Groups receiving this award must achieve a score of 90 percent or higher from three judges who are experts in choral music.

Both groups also placed third overall in their respective categories.

Heritage Festival promotes excellence among choirs, bands and orchestras and is attended by toprated high school choral groups throughout the country.

The 85-member Concert Choir and the 25-member Panther Chamber Singers, both under the direction of John Sargent, have participated in this event for the last several years and have consistently brought home top honors.
