Relay for Life committee to meet The organizing committee for the ninth annual Conejo Valley Relay For Life will meet at 5:45 p.m. Tues., April 11 in Amgen Building 92, Conejo Spectrum St., Thousand Oaks. The committee is starting its annual drive seeking local companies and organizations that would like to sponsor this year's relay. Sponsorship opportunities start at $500, with the presenting sponsor at $10,000. Sponsors receive recognition, advertisement and a number of benefits, including waiving the fees for teams. These benefits are in addition to playing a significant role in the signature fundraising event for the American Cancer Society. Interested individuals are invited to attend the organizing committee meeting, provide input and join the committee. Organizations interested in sponsorships are also invited to attend this meeting. For more information on sponsorships, please call the committee chair, Charles Volk, at (818) 519-5256. The Conejo Valley Relay For Life is a "fun and unique" 24hour event to increase cancer awareness while raising funds for the American Cancer Society's programs and services. Teams of up to 12 people, formed by local businesses, community groups and individuals, raise funds prior to the event. At the Relay, team members take turns walking or running around the track, relay style, and enjoy activities and entertainment off the track. The first Relay For Life event in the Conejo Valley in 1997 raised $32,000. Last year's event raised more than $400,000. |
