Fire prevention officer named to commission by governor

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger has appointed Ventura County Fire Department's Fire Prevention Officer Christina Jamison, 41, of Camarillo to the California Building Standards Commission.

She will be the fire official member of the commission, which meets bimonthly in Sacramento to review building standards submitted by various state agencies. Local agencies are responsible for enforcing these standards where applicable.

Jamison has been a member of the Ventura County Fire Department's Fire Prevention Bureau for 11 years, serving as a fire prevention officer for five years. In her capacity as fire prevention officer, she supervises four fire prevention personnel responsible for fire code enforcement in the county and cities served by the fire district.

Supporting Jamison's nomination to the commission were the California Fire Chiefs Association, California Building Industry Association and California building officials.
