Seminar will address spiritual wisdom of Christ The “Ancient Spiritual Wisdom: Principles and Practices for Life” seminar will be presented at 8:30 a.m. Sat., Feb. 25 at the Hyatt Westlake Plaza, 880 S. Westlake Blvd., Westlake Village. The seminar is about spirituality as it was taught by Jesus and his early followers. “Whether you are a skeptic, a seeker or a believer, these speakers will give you a new perspective on spirituality,” said Marque Todd Smedley, conference spokesperson. “We know that many people are turned off by churches and organized religion, and we want to extend a special invitation to these folks. In fact, we hope to have a vibrant dialogue between people with a wide range of beliefs and explore ideas, beliefs and doubts together. So, we’ve left plenty of time during the conference for interaction and questions,” said Smedley. Speakers include: Dallas Willard, USC professor of philosophy and author of “The Divine Conspiracy”; John Ortberg, psychologist, pastor and author of “The Life You’ve Always Wanted”; John Burke, founder of Gateway Community Church and author of “No Perfect People Allowed”; Tony Jones, former youth pastor, national coordinator of Emergent-US and author of “The Sacred Way: Spiritual Practices”; and Ken LaMont, family life pastor, Newbury Park First Christian Church. The event is sponsored by Via Vita, an organization created by church members as an outreach to those individuals turned off by traditional religion and churches. A social mixer will follow the conference at 4:30 p.m. Advance registration is $50 or $75 at the door and includes lunch. Registration is available online at www.viavita.us or by calling (805) 582-2096. |
