Here are this year’s objectives in Thousand Oaks

The following are the top priorities for the city of Thousand Oaks for 2006 as determined by the city council earlier this month. Goals are listed in random order, they are not prioritized.

1. Develop plan to increase affordable housing units; develop plan/policy to protect mobile home park residents; conduct three affordable housing study sessions.

2. Develop a plan/vision to improve downtown and Thousand Oaks Boulevard.

3. Complete The Oaks mall renovation and expansion review process.

4. Acquire more open space, develop plan to acquire Mount Clef Ridge parcels.

5. Enhance environmental programs; develop public/private solar energy program; create educational program for schools; address groundwater issues, including those that affect Kevin Street.

6. Select permanent operator for equestrian center (Two Winds Ranch) and complete overall project.

7. Continue to support public safety; complete review of additional police beat; complete review for fire district costs vs. services provided; and develop plan or legislation to allow cities to set local speed limits.

8. Improve public transportation programs; begin 23 Freeway widening project; obtain funding for 101/23 Freeway interchange project; obtain funding for related freeway soundwalls.

9. Develop fund plan and begin construction of CLU swimming complex.

10. Develop improved traffic noise mitigation plans (including Lynn Road and Blackwood Street areas).

11. Develop plan to eliminate/ reduce general fund subsidy of theaters.
